Tires dealers, workshops and service stations are the points where typically End of Life Tires are produced. From here the ELTs are withdrawn each time the store or service area is close to saturation. The owner only needs to report through an efficient management system. Authorized and contracted hauliers are responsible for collecting ELTs.
Only the types of tire indicated by current legislation are withdrawn and sent to the ELT cycle:
- mopeds and motorcycles tires
- motor vehicles and related trailers tires
- trucks and buses tires
- agricultural, operating and industrial machines tires

In processing plants, ELTs are selected and then processed to separate the materials of which they are composed: rubber, metal and textile fibers. In particular, rubber is reduced to granulate and dust, both products in great demand on the market. The materials are then transferred to companies that will use them to make new objects.
This way ELTs cease to be waste and play a new role, useful for the economy and environmentally-friendly. It is also the indication of the current legislation, which defines recycling as those operations that allow waste to be used to replace new materials that would have been used for the same use.

The commitment of the Consortium to safeguard the environment is to focus exclusively on Italian plants, for a supply chain as close as possible to “km0”.
The efficiency of its ELT cycle has led Greentire to be the Consortium that recovers the highest percentage of material. A choice of responsibility also rewarded by the market. For this reason the Consortium only takes into consideration, as a last resort, and only if the recycling of material is not possible, the recycling of energy from ELT through waste-to-energy plants.
