Subject:
Use of ELT-derived granulate as a secondary raw material for the steel industry
Description:
In recent years, the steelmaking process has always been very sensitive to the adoption of innovative materials that may be able to replace raw materials obtained from mining or whose processing is characterised by a high environmental impact. One example is the coal used in slag skimming; mixtures of rubber with metallurgical coal or coke could be used to partially replace the conventional metallurgical coal used in the electric arc furnace or EAF (Electric Arc Furnace) industry as a carbon contributor.
Result:
Opening of a new market for ELT granulate in the steel mill sector
Project status:
Experimental phase completed at steel mills
